THE PROCESS

The design process typically takes a minimum of 2 months from start to finish.

The client (you) will meet with the designer (Amy) virtually to talk about your property, your goals, your budget, and your timeline. A simple conversation to see if we are a good match. 30 minutes, free of charge.

Amy will visit your property to learn more about your goals, evaluate existing conditions, and note site challenges. After walking the site together, Amy requests one hour alone to take measurements, take reference photos, and get a feel for the space.

Amy will sketch 2-3 concepts for your property and we will meet virtually to discuss feedback. If you prefer, she may also create a Pinterest board for both of you to share images to better understand your style preferences.

Amy will create the first draft design for your property based on feedback from the previous meeting. The draft will be emailed to you, then we will meet virtually to discuss the draft and for you to provide more feedback.

We may meet in-person to look at materials and/or plant choices together. You can always call, text, or email Amy with more thoughts, ideas, and feedback.

Amy will update the design based on feedback and we will meet virtually for your final approval. Minor changes are included after this meeting. Major design changes past this stage will be billed at $100/hour.

Amy will finalize and email all plans and provide hard copies as requested. You will receive a scaled architectural drawing, 3D conceptual images, a planting plan with plant list, a proposed materials list, and general maintenance/care guidance. If you choose, irrigation and lighting plans will also be included.

Amy can recommend a licensed landscape contractor for you to contact and hire. She can communicate with the contractor via phone or email and can meet on-site up to 2 times. Minor changes to the plan after contractor review are included.

The Nestled Garden designs look best with seasonal maintenance. Amy is happy to share general gardening advice if you plan on caring for your garden yourself. If you’re new to gardening, it’s suggested to hire a gardener to visit once a month to keep the garden looking its best. Amy can provide references for local gardeners who are knowledgeable in pruning, weeding, and checking irrigation for native and drought-tolerant landscapes.
