Wake up and step outside your bedroom with a cup of coffee and breathe in the fresh air. This new homeowner requested a relaxing oasis outside her bedroom and a low-water, lush ground cover that her small dog could use daily. We added sandstone steps down from her bedroom to a matching sandstone pathway, and moved the location of the gate to make space for the new steps. Most of the pathway slabs were reused from the previous homeowner’s design. Plants are a mix of Creeping thyme, Idaho fescue, and Foothill sedge–hardy plants that withstand hot Novato summers and can grow in partial shade.
